Lions Focusing On Coast Season

The De Anza College women's soccer team continues to demonstrate determination and resilience through the early stages of the 2025 season.

Despite a 1–7–2 overall record and several close battles, the Mountain Lions have shown consistent improvement in team chemistry, defensive organization, and goalkeeping performances that keep them competitive in nearly every match.

Several players have provided offensive highlights this fall, including Xitlaly Martinez, Leilani Loo, and Jasmyn Lucas, who have each scored for the Mountain Lions.

Martinez also added an assist to lead the team in total points (3) and Lucas notched the team's game-winning goal earlier in the season.

Midfielders Lia Hirata and Emily Aquino Salazar have anchored the center of the field, combining defensive coverage with transitional play that has created attacking opportunities for their teammates.

On the defensive side, goalkeeper Madison Braun (32 saves) owns a .744 save percentage.

Overall, back line has made noticeable strides in organization and communication, helping hold opponents scoreless or to a single goal in several halves of play.

While the win column doesn't yet reflect their effort, the Mountain Lions' steady improvement and growing depth have positioned them to turn competitive outings into positive results as conference play continues.

With tenacious defensive play, promising young talent, and continued growth under pressure, the Mountain Lions are laying the groundwork for a strong finish to the season and an even brighter future for De Anza women's soccer.
