Mountain Lions Take Half of NorCal Entries for CCCAA Championships

The De Anza College Mountain Lions Women's Badminton team rolled through the Coast Conference Championships (NorCal qualifier) over the weekend at City College of San Francisco. 

Vanessa Dinh led the way, taking the singles championship and teaming with partner Heather Lee to defeat Fresno City College's No. 1 doubles team to create an All-De Anza doubles final.

In that event, Madison Moe and Malaya Paras-Mangrobang prevailed over their teammates to earn the top seed for the North in Friday-Saturday's CCCAA State Championships. 

Also impressing on the day, were doubles partners Jenny Nguyen and Phuong Truong who finished fourth, giving the team three of the top four doubles seeds in the North.

Individual Singles and Doubles Championships will be conducted Friday and Saturday at Fresno City College. 

Round of 16 matches begin at 1:00 p.m.  

The Mountain Lions have also earned a spot in the Team Final on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. against six-time CCCAA champion Irvine Valley College.
