De Anza Defends 3C2A State Badminton Crown Against SD Mesa Thursday; Hosts Individual Championships Friday & Saturday

CUPERTINO – Reigning 3C2A state badminton champion De Anza College hosts the 2026 tournament Thursday through Saturday (May 7-9) at its main gymnasium.

Host De Anza repeated as Coast Conference champion this season with an 8-0 record and is 10-3 overall.

San Diego Mesa is the new South Coast Conference champion (4-0), displacing defending champion Pasadena CC. Mesa is undefeated overall at 8-0, including a pair of March wins over De Anza, and one each over Coast runner-up City College of San Francisco and third place Fresno CC.

SCHEDULE: Competition begins on Thursday with the state team championship matching Mesa and De Anza at 5 p.m. (Gym opens at 3:30 p.m.)

On Friday, state individual singles and doubles competition begins at 12 noon.

Saturday has state individual semifinals at 11 a.m., followed by individual finals.

Only the top north and south teams compete on the first day of the championships. Athletes from the five NorCal and three SoCal badminton college teams compete for individual honors on Friday and Saturday.

NorCal teams have won the last five 3C2A state championships, with De Anza taking three titles. Pasadena CC was the last SoCal team to win, in 2017 and 2018.
