De Anza Stays Perfect With 35–24 Road Victory Over Siskiyous
In a matchup of two undefeated teams, De Anza College rose to the challenge on the road Saturday, defeating Siskiyous, 35-24, to improve to 4-0 on the season.
The Mountain Lions trailed 10-7 at halftime, but used a third-quarter surge and a balanced attack to hand the tough Eagles (3-1) their first loss of the year.
Dating back to last season, DA has now won 14 consecutive regular season games.
"That was a hard-fought win against a top team," said De Anza College head coach Joe D'Agostino.
"We still need to put four quarters together, but we have a special group that bounces back after facing adversity. No one flinched and we keep getting contributions from our deep roster. We responded from a rough first half and closed the game against a great opponent."
Strong Start
- De Anza opened the scoring late in the first quarter when Ian Kirby connected with Akeem Wright on a 13-yard touchdown pass.
- Siskiyous responded with a field goal before adding a short rushing touchdown in the second quarter to take a 10–7 halftime lead.
Third-Quarter Surge
- The Mountain Lions flipped the momentum in the third quarter with three unanswered touchdowns.
- Kirby hit Jadhari Young on a 7-yard pass, then Isaiah Addison punched in a 5-yard rushing score.
- Kirby capped the quarter with a 9-yard touchdown pass to Chris Butler, giving De Anza a commanding 28–10 lead.
Closing It Out
- Siskiyous closed the gap with an early fourth-quarter touchdown, but De Anza answered with a punishing 11-play, 81-yard drive capped by a 26-yard touchdown run from Ke'Yon Torain.
- Siskiyous added one final score in the closing seconds, but De Anza held firm for the 35-24 victory.
