De Anza Erupts for School-Record 83 Points in Golden Coast League Opener
The No. 24-ranked De Anza College Mountain Lions opened Golden Coast League play in historic fashion Saturday, overwhelming Hartnell College, 83–0, at home to improve to 6-0 overall.
The victory marked De Anza's 16th straight regular-season win, and set a school records for most points and margin of victory.
"Really proud of our complete-game effort," said De Anza head coach Joe D'Agostino.
"We used the Bye Week to focus on league play and with new energy in our approach to daily practice. The attention to detail is improving, while we are still getting a few guys back to full strength. It was great to see more guys get a chance to play. Just need to keep it going."
Explosive Start: Five Touchdowns on Five Consecutive Snaps
For the second straight game, Chris Butler returned the opening kickoff for a touchdown. His 93-yard score ignited an unprecedented scoring stretch - touchdowns on five consecutive offensive snaps across the first and second quarters.

Moments later, Isaiah Addison took a pitch and sprinted 80 yards to the end zone.
In barely six minutes of game time, De Anza exploded for 35 points and effectively sealed the outcome before halftime. The Lions would've scored TDs on six consecutive offensive snaps, but a long run by Kirby was nullified by penalty (DA scored three plays later).
Wire-To-Wire Dominance
The Mountain Lions scored touchdowns on their first eight possessions and led 56–0 at halftime before extending the margin to 70–0 after three quarters.

Ian Kirby turned in another exceptional outing, completing 12-of-18 passes for 332 yards and 3 touchdowns, while also rushing for a score.

Akeem Wright delivered a career performance - 6 receptions, 226 yards, 3 touchdowns.

Addison, Torain, and Malachi Anderson combined for 138 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns.

Defense and Special Teams Set the Tone
De Anza's defense smothered Hartnell (2-4) from start to finish.
Hartnell entered the game avegaring 21.8 points per game (and scored a season-high 40 last game against Contra Costa) - but did not have an offensive snap in DA territory until the fourth quarter.

Held the visiting Panthers to 112 total yards and 10 first downs.

Registered 87 total tackles, two interceptions (by Jasiri Harvey and Desmond Sampson), and one sack.

Andrew Rheubottom, Hosie Hopkins, and Jaleel Hawkins anchored a front that limited Hartnell to 23 rushing yards on 45 attempts.
Special teams were equally dominant. In addition to Butler's 93-yard kickoff return, he added 106 yards on punt returns, and kicker Armando Rodriguez converted 11 of 12 PATs while booming kickoffs that averaged 56.6 yards.
