No. 2 De Anza Dominates Coast Opener

 

The De Anza College men's soccer team delivered another convincing performance on Friday afternoon, cruising past Gavilan College 6–1 in a Coast Conference matchup at home.

The No. 2 Mountain Lions came out firing, scoring three goals in the opening 25 minutes and never looked back.

 

First-Half Highlights

  • Ryan Corcoran set the tone early, scoring twice in the first seven minutes—both assisted by Keven "Peewee" Orocio.

  • Alessandro Velasquez added an unassisted strike in the 24th minute to make it 3–0 heading into halftime.

     

Second-Half Surge

  • The offensive pressure continued as De Anza added three more goals after the break.

    • Audie Garza created the first with a cross that led to a team goal in the 49th minute.

    • Brandon Ledger finished a perfect setup from Garza in the 62nd minute.

    • Carlo Ramirez-Truse capped the scoring for De Anza in the 68th minute off a team assist.

  • Gavilan netted a late goal in the 70th minute, but the result was never in doubt.

     

Leaders and Notes

  • Corcoran led all scorers with 2 goals on 5 shots (3 on target).

  • Velasquez, Ledger, and Ramirez-Truse each scored once.

  • Orocio tallied 2 assists, and Garza added 2 more from the midfield.

  • Goalkeepers Carlos Balthazar and Luc Narido split time in net, combining to hold Gavilan to a single goal.

 

De Anza improves to 5-1-1 overall and continues to build momentum heading into next week's conference action.
